Interim Hiatus

My oh my has it been a busy couple of months, je m'excuse. Although, I'm finally back stateside and in "The City where dreams are made of," according to the catchy lyrics by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys in their hit "Empire State of Mind". Enjoying all the trucs this city has to offer and more.
In related fashion news, the renowned fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh was personally asked back by Mrs. Wintour herself, for a Vogue editorial shoot for the July 2010 issue. The shoot included stylings by the lovely Grace Coddington, our fave top model Natalia Vodianova and broody Ewan McGregor. Lest not forget the adorable twin girls dressed to the dimes in Ralph Lauren and Papo d'Anjo. It may have been an 18 year hiatus, but Lindbergh still has it; highlighting Fall 2010's collections amidst a 1950s backdrop.

Panache

"A designer who truly knows a woman's body"
- Haute Child

The Brookyn reared designer Zac Posen has been making prominent strides in many facets of his business this year. So far he has a Zac Posen  for Target Australia line  in over 75 stores down under and the US. Plus, he recently launched his very own plus size line at Saks Fifth Avenue deemed Z Spoke. The contemporary line is a bit atypical from his usual short cocktail dresses as he describes as more of a daywear collection. Posen added colorful pieces that a size 16 could wear and told The Cut

"I don't think it's about women feeling always just skinnier. I think it's about women feeling comfortable and embracing their bodies. As a designer, that's always been my philosophy."

No wonder he has one of the largest celebrity clientele that faithfully show his gowns on the red carpet every year and the best dates too. Plus we hear he's besties with Natalie Portman.

Established Adolescent

Best year ever definitely goes to America's new sweetheart 17 year old Karlie Kloss. Her classic yet fresh look seems driving designers crazy as their go to girl or muse to many legendary labels. Her numerous ad campaigns are with top haute brands such as  Hermès, Oscar de la Renta, Chloé and the face of Marc Jacob's Lola fragrance campaign. Kloss isn't living any average 17 year olds schedule of college tours but more like bookings and casting calls with top designers. Quoted in WWD saying, "It's incredible that I get to be in the same room with Grace Coddington and legends and icons who have shapped the industry and the world in many ways."At least she's gracious about her jam packed schedule. Could Kloss continue her reign and start the return of the American Supermodel era?

Its that time again...

Bryant Park has come and gone.
London had a spicy but overwhelming somber tone for a great loss.
Milan's Fashion commissioner is upset with Anna and her flakey plans.
I'm off to Paris for Fashion week.
C'est la vie

au revoir McQueen

A bit eccentric, dark, angular and of course dramatic.
His muses ranging from his mentor Isabella Blow, Sarah Jessica Parker to his latest obsession with Gaga.
His Fall 2008 RTW collection was what some call the spawn of a cultured genius.
A tribute to the famous high school drop-out who learned his costume patterns at Angels and Bermans and his fine tailoring on Savile Row.

When you see a woman wearing McQueen, there's a certain hardness to the clothes that makes her look powerful... It kind of fends people off. You have to have a lot of balls to talk to a woman wearing my clothes.

Bonne Année

My European travels have been a bit time consuming.
Luckily 2010 was rung in the right way in London aka glam + trendy club + close friends.
As for the euro fashion headlines the famous SOLDES of France are currently going on. I finally understand why so many French women wear couture and young girl's carry Longchamp bags; they wait for the SOLDES! Also it seems that Berlin is climbing onto the fashion capital map and finished up a haute week of autumn/winter 2010 shows. Some faves included Marcel Ostertag, Anja Gockel, Frida Weyer and the fabulous debut of Chaya with their "Urban Lolita" line.

Plus the new year has brought us new goodies like:
~MK & A's The Row officially online
~ The new Bravo show "Kell on Earth"
~ YSL's A/W menswear collection film by Bruce Weber

The saga continues

Just in time for Christmas... Harper's Bazaar presents the hottest mortal / vampire couple in their December issue. Kirsten Stewart and Robert Pattinson are probably having their busiest Christmas' ever with their recently released New Moon breaking box office history. Stewart dressed in everything from Alexander Wang, Prada and Versace steers clear of homebody Bella Swan's wardrobe. Although Pattinson maintains the same enticing and longing gaze as Edward.

Joyeux Noël!
